IN THIS ISSUE 2 A Note from the Director 3 Library News 4-5 Central 6-7 West River 8 Keystone 9 South 10 Outreach 11 Library Friends UPCOMING CLOSINGS 2 www.elyrialibrary.org DEAR COMMUNITY, Labor Day Sept. 4 Staff Development Sept. 22 Thanksgiving (EPL closes at 5 p.m. on Wednesday Nov. 22nd) Nov. 23 In Observance of Christmas Dec. 23 - 26 New Year’s Day Jan. 1 As the Director of Elyria Public Library, it is a pleasure to welcome you to our fall newsletter. With the fall season upon us, the colors of autumn inspire us to reflect on the beauty of change and renewal. First and foremost, I want to express my sincere gratitude to each and every one of you. Your participation in library services and programs has contributed to making EPL library locations vibrant places for community, learning, creativity and connection. There is a little bit of magic in being together with people and sharing an experience that deepens our ties in the community. From music to science, technology to history, we are excited to share programs that span a diverse range of interests for all age groups. From insightful book clubs to interactive technology workshops and engaging story times for children, we aim to create an environment that inspires learning and personal growth. In September, we look forward to the Que Bueno Concert, a musical performance by the Victor Samalot Duo that will take us on a journey through Latin music. Later in September, a scientist from NASA’s John Glenn Research Center is coming to talk about upcoming moon missions and recent discoveries. Take a look inside to see what other interesting events are coming up! The trustees of Elyria Public Library are now seeking volunteers to apply to serve as board members. In this newsletter you will find a link to an interest form and questionnaire to apply. I would also like to share that Friends of Elyria Public Library and Friends of the EPL Keystone are seeking members and volunteers to help with a variety of efforts that support EPL. Many thanks to the trustees and the members of both Friends groups who support the library on behalf of the community! As EPL continues to grow and adapt, we value your feedback and suggestions immensely. Your ideas inspire us to explore all that a library can be and to better serve you. Warmly, Jen Starkey Jennifer.Starkey@elyrialibrary.org
