Overdue Materials Policy
Note: Due to the COVID pandemic, currently EPLS materials are fine-free.
Purpose: To ensure return of overdue materials.
Fines: Fines are assessed at $.10 per day per item up to a maximum of $5.00 per item, with the exception of new DVDs, where lines are assessed at $1 .00 per day per item up to a maximum of $5.00. Borrowing privileges may be suspended when a patron owes $5.00 or more in extended lines or if the patron has 5 overdue items.
Stolen/Lost Library Cards: lf a patron claims he/she did not check out materials and produces a police report from the time of the theft stating library card was lost or stolen all lines and charges will be waived if items were checked out fraudulently.
Notices: Patrons who opt for e-mail notification will get notices as provided by Clevnet. Those who opt for mail notification will receive one bill allowing a reasonable time to clear their account.
Uncleared accounts: Uncleared accounts of $10.00 to $24.99 are subject to collection, with an additional $3.00 referral fee. Uncleared accounts of $25.00 or more are subject to collection, with an additional $10.00 referral fee.
The Library Director will make the final determination regarding payment of lines.
